In 2018, I set myself the goal of writing a song every week for the whole year, without a set idea of what the songs would sound like and without a plan to ever share any of them with anyone else. Some weeks were fun and productive, others were painful and fruitless. However, learned a lot in the process and at the end of the year, I found myself with some material that I am now ready to share here.
After writing guitar-based music for years, I really wanted to get out of my comfort zone and do something different. Sometime early in 2018, a friend came by with a compilation record of late 70’s and early 80’s European Post-Punk released by the Minimal Wave label. I was really inspired by the minimalist arrangements and DIY production and this strongly influenced the sound of my recordings. If you’re into this sort of thing, the BBC’s Synth Britannia documentary is really good.
Starting in the spring, I’ll be doing some live shows as a duo with Alex Vance from Little Tiger, which you can find out about on the ‘Upcoming Shows‘ page. If you want to get in touch, you can send me a message via the ‘Contact‘ page or follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. See you soon.
